There are plenty of snowmobiles on the market designed to tackle the powder covered terrain that winter brings about, but there are none that look quite as badass as the unique Snow Crawler. It comes with enough space for a single person and is powered by an electric motor that makes it whisper quiet and completely eco-friendly.
Clearly, this thing was built to cater to the needs of casual snowmobile fans who wish to enjoy the unique experience of a thrilling ride without getting hit in the face with snow every 5 seconds.
Merely a concept at this point, the Snow Crawler probably won’t enter official production anytime soon, but it would definitely be nice if it did as it represents a safer, greener and more comfortable alternative to regular snowmobiles.
Designer Michael Bonikowski realized that, despite the variety of snowmobiles on the market, they are pretty much all open like a motorcycle or quad-bike. This enclosed machine provides protection from the elements with the added benefit of allowing for pretty fantastic-looking bodywork. It looks like the same is true for snowmobiles.
The design is intended to have electric power (not common for snowmobiles) and the cockpit only has room for one person, the driver. Since it’s just a design concept at this point, there’s no telling if the Snow Crawler or anything like it will ever be built. There’s no doubt that it’s an appealing idea, though, and there are plenty people like me who are too warm-blooded for a real snowmobile. Plus, these things would get very popular if we suddenly found ourselves in another ice age.
